Percussionist Ben Wittman was raised in the creative and adventuresome atmosphere of Bennington, VT in the 60's and 70's. He graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in 1986 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. His time in Boston included a 6-year association with African percussionist and ethnomusicologist, David Locke.

Ben moved to New York in 1993 where he combines his love of world rhythms and composition. He has performed with artists as diverse as Paul Simon, Paula Cole and Rosanne Cash, to cutting edge clarinetist Don Byron and contemporary Celtic artists Eileen Ivers and Solas.

When not on the road performing, Ben leads a busy and diverse life in the NY studio scene appearing on numerous records and soundtracks as well as producing records for artists such as Jonatha Brooke and Jennifer Kimball of The Story, Lucy Kaplansky, Patty Larkin, and Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul.

He has been working with Cathie since 2004.
